Von Kanada nach Chile mit dem Motorrad

From Canada to Chile by Motorbike

From May 2015 until February 2016 we traveled on the Panamericana. On our motorbike (Honda Transalp) we first drove all through Canada (from East to West) and then southwards to Chile. During that time we wrote a blog and posted the best of our pictures. Do you have questions about traveling in these regions? Don't hesitate to get in touch, we're looking forward to hearing from you!

Arrival in Halifax

Canada: 02.06.2015

Halifax, the starting point of our adventure. What will be waiting for us here? This is our thought when our plane descends through the thick cloud cover over Nova Scotia in the early evening.

Forest and Water

Canada: 04.06.2015

Canada on the road – what better combination could there be? It is proven once more: Canadians are very friendly drivers. Although they drive huge cars here, everything is very civilized and driving is pure bliss.

All the Colors of Newfoundland

Canada: 02.06.2015

We have the privilege to spend a wonderful time in Newfoundland, even if the weather moods of this island challenge us a little at times. But that's also exactly what makes it so charming!

Nova Scotia and New Brunswick

Canada: 18.06.2015

Back on the mainland we enjoy the country life for a few more days. Warm hospitality, beautiful nature - but then there are also those tiny creatures with whom we make our very own experiences.

City Life in Quebec

Canada: 21.06.2015

Quebec, a big city awaits us. Change of scene: The river, forest and lakes are now replaced by streets, people and houses. We enjoy the comforts of civilization.

Ontario

Canada: 26.06.2015

We leave Québec City with fond memories and brilliant weather. Exciting days in nature are waiting for us, but we don't know anything about that yet when we start into this new chapter of our journey.

Meeting Friends in Thunderbay

Canada: 30.06.2015

Thunderbay, the Canadian city on Lake Superior: From here, 700km in all directions, there is only wilderness, therefore we look forward to meeting an old friend and her family.

Through the Prairie

Canada: 04.07.2015

Behind Ontario the hills, the dense forests and the lakes suddenly give way to wide fields of rapeseed, light birch forests and small ponds, the landscape becomes flatter and flatter. Also, we find a new companion to drive through Manitoba.

In the Rocky Mountains National Parks

Canada: 09.07.2015

The Rocky Mountains - the epitome of the beauty of Canada: rugged mountains, crystal clear, ice-cold mountain lakes, grizzly bears, moose, wilderness, solitude.

British Columbia and Vancouver Island

Canada: 19.07.2015

Stories woven and interwoven like cobwebs, connecting millennia, centuries or even just decades, accompany us through British Columbia.

Vancouver

Canada: 22.07.2015

Vancouver, the Canadian metropolis on the Pacific, is characterized by a multicultural atmosphere that can be felt everywhere. We dive into the city, enjoy the local hostess and use the advantages of civilization to organize our further trip.

Via Washington to Oregon

USA: 30.07.2015

The United States of America, the USA or, for the locals, simply America, is the second country we travel to. After six weeks of Canadian friendliness we are a bit spoiled, already at the border crossing it gets complicated.

On the houseboat in San Francisco

USA: 01.08.2015

San Francisco - one of the few big cities, if not the only one, that we want to visit in the USA. Here we have the chance for a unique couch surfing experience: For a few days we live on a houseboat that is over 100 years old.

Hospitality in Santa Barbara

USA: 07.08.2015

Slowly but surely we get closer to the desert. Where previously coniferous forest and lush green trees lined the streets, now eucalyptus forests, the first cacti and other vegetation adapted to the drought follow.

Looking back… on North America

Summary: 15.10.2015

North America by motorcycle: 23,000km from Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada to Panama City. 23,000km only briefly for comparison: That is roughly the same distance like from Bern to Beijing and back again. We are looking back.
